The Next Big Thing!

It’s always important for us at fabulous to make sure we have our finger on the fashion pulse – so Laura from the Bath store updates us on what jewellery we should be wearing this season!

I recently had the chance to visit the NEC’s Jewellery Show at Spring Fair, which gave me the opportunity to look out for the Next Big Thing in jewellery!

There were a few stand out themes I spotted at the show, including the sheer amount of gold jewellery on display. After talking to the various brand managers they informed me that gold is becoming much more popular. Clogau in particular are a Welsh brand which uses elements of Welsh gold in their pieces, interestingly they are also linked to the Royal Family as Kate Middleton’s wedding band incorporates Welsh gold. This theme of royalty and ‘British-ness’ was very apparent during the show due to the upcoming jubilee and Olympics. Sphere of Life, Nomination and Pandora have all made reference to this in their new collections.

However, for me the Next Big Thing is jewellery inspired by different eras. Lola Rose for example introduced the use of bright purples, oranges and yellows in their collection which is very reminiscent of the 1960s. Also they had a lovely black cuff which was very art deco inspired! Swarovski also went for the 60s look – their new collection is called Sweet Sixties and includes big statement pieces and bold shapes. During the catwalk show the music was very 60s and the styling featured Mod-type shirts and monochrome. Jersey Pearl was another brand which used the 1920’s as inspiration, celebrating the elegant designs of a decade which saw pearls first come to the masses.

If you would like to get a closer look at jewellery through the decades then make sure you come along to the Girls’ Night Out fashion shows in March at either Leamington or Solihull!

And here’s some shots from the Catwalk Show we saw….

Next month fabulous will be holding its bi-annual Girls’ Night Out evening event at the Solihull and Bath stores on 14th and 16th September respectively. It will be the first Girls’ Night Out in Bath and will be held at The Cosy Club located above the fabulous store in SouthGate. As well as the catwalk show, fabulous owner, Jo Stroud, talks through this season’s hottest trends and the key pieces that you shouldn’t be seen without for Autumn/Winter 2011.

This season’s shows will be a little different to before: instead of screens illustrating images from the London, Paris and New York fashion weeks, there will be mood boards reflecting the theme of each fabulous catwalk style situated around the catwalk. Guests will also be able to view the mood boards after the show, to add a fun, interactive element to the evening and let guests feel inspired by the images as they shop.

As always, there will be some designers and representatives from the amazing brands we stock, such as Chloe Moss, the founder of ChloBo, will be joining in the fun at Bath. There will also be offers available only to those attending  the evenings (to alleviate any guilty spending!), tasty canapés and drinks, and the popular raffle in aid of Cancer Research UK, which guarantees some lucky guests taking home stunning pieces by our favourite designers!

Tickets for the events can be purchased through the store where you’d like to attend the Girls’ Night Out – either in-store or over the phone. Tickets cost £5.00 each and while you will receive a receipt of payment immediately, tickets are sent via post nearer the day of the event. Children are welcome. Getting fabulous at Girls’ Night Out Solihull!

We welcomed the new season in with style at Girls’ Night Out Solihull – Zoe Ralph of fabulous Solihull tells us all about it!

This year we held our bi-annual, sell-out Girl’s Night Out event, a seasonal fashion show, on 30th March, in Poplar Arcade, Touchwood. The event was extra special as, for the first time, it was held outside the fabulous store, and saw models saunter across the arcade wearing great new pieces for the Spring Summer 2011. The 40 guests in attendance enjoyed viewing pieces from the latest collections by Thomas Sabo, Lola Rose and Chan Luu.

The new venue was a great success and the proximity to the store allowed our guests to browse the summery jewellery in a relaxed and private environment while they enjoyed canapés and cocktails.

Thomas Sabo representative Daniel Rhodes brought along a colourful selection of the new POP NOW jewellery range, which is inspired by the 1960s vibrant pop art movement and fits in with this season’s trend for colour blocking and fun, vivid prints.

Girl’s Night Out wasn’t just an excuse for some frivolous fashion fun, but also raised money for Cancer Research UK by including a raffle, for which designers kindly donated some special pieces such as necklaces and t-shirts for lucky ticket holders to win.

Sinade Prosser, Solihull store manager, was delighted by the success of the event: “This Spring’s Girl’s Night Out was a wonderful evening and we were thrilled to have held it in Touchwood as it provided a great space for our fashion show and easy access for the ladies to browse in store, where they could choose from our full range of pieces. We are also very proud to have such generous customers and to have raised money for Cancer Research UK.”
