bath autumn trends.jpg

The girls in the fabulous Bath team are excited that autumn is finally here, with crisp chilly mornings and cosy nights in. To pick up on the season’s trends, they’ve wrapped up warm and visited some of their favourite retailers in the beautiful Southgate shopping centre.

The first stop was All Saint’s, which featured an array of beautiful knitwear pieces for the upcoming cold weather. The sales assistants reported that chunky knits are a must-have this season: comfortable, practical and fashionable. Layer up with a thick knit and pair with your favourite Alex and Ani bangles stacked high for an cool, casual look.

Next up was Accessorize, which featured a stunning array of scarves and hats in beautiful autumnal colourways and eclectic prints. The team think these accessories are the perfect way to achieve a bold, colourful autumn look, and would pair them with vibrant bangles from Fervor Montreal.

The girls also visited the Perfume Shop to sample some of the season’s bestselling scents. The sales assistants told the girls that Modern Muse by Estee Lauder is flying off the shelves this month. With notes of jasmine and rum, Modern Muse is a sophisticated, feminine fragrance designed to be worn at night. Pair with a chiming Engelsrufer pendant for evening glamour.

Debenhams was next on the list- specifically the Nails Inc. bar. The most popular shades this season have been Uptown, a dusky pink, Grosvenor Crescent, a deep aubergine, and Battersea Park, which is Khaki. The Bath girls love these contrasting autumn shades, and think they’d go perfectly with a brightly coloured Charm Club bracelet from the new collection by Thomas Sabo.

Hiking is one of the most popular autumn pastimes, so the girls visited the North Face for some rural inspiration. The sales assistants let the girls know that warm coats in khaki and berry tones are the perfect outerwear as the weather gets colder. We think that an elegant bangle with matching studs from Life’s Journey, reminding you to follow your own path, is the perfect complement to all of your scenic adventures.

Last but not least, the girls visited Boots for the latest autumnal beauty trends. The girls on the Dior counter told our girls that red is has been incredibly popular this month! The fabulous girls think that the latest additions from Nomination are the perfect match for these beauty trends. The sparkle of Glitter Nights is a lovely pairing for a statement red lip, and the new rose gold knots are perfect for the popular red tones.

Bath: Summer Trends in the City!

The girls from fabulous Bath have been on a spree in the beautiful Southgate shopping centre! The team visited some of their favourite shops to find out what’s trending in the city this summer…

boux avenue

Malia Bikini by Boux Avenue from £10, Ice Watches from £49.95

First up, the girls visited Boux Avenue to check out this season’s best-selling swimwear. The Boux Avenue team agreed unanimously that black, pink and lime-green were on-trend this summer. Boux Avenue’s Jessica had a high-waisted two-piece at the top of her wishlist for her holiday in the Maldives.

The Bath girls think Ice watches, with their vibrant colours and bold designs, are the perfect pool-side accessory to complement the trending bright swimsuits- especially since they’re waterproof!

Berkeley Street, South Molton Street and Uptown by Nails Inc. £15, Nikki Lissoni Coins from £23

After Boux Avenue, the girls paid Debenhams a visit, and spoke to the girls at the Nails Inc. bar. The Nails Inc. girls agreed that the most popular nail shades are pretty pinks this summer: the best-sellers are South Molton Street, Berkeley Street and Uptown. Nail technician Emily told the girls that Berkeley Street was her favourite shade because it matches her personality perfectly- bright, cheerful and fun!

The Bath girls love these polishes and would mix and match the three shades. They think a rose gold Nikki Lissoni carrier would complement these colours perfectly, especially when paired with a rose gold or silver coin.

According to the Benefit team, their lip and cheek tints- Chachatint, Lollitint and Posietint- are flying off the shelves this summer. The tints are designed to add a subtle pop of colour for enhancing natural beauty. This concept reminds us of one our favourite collections at fabulous– Druzy Rocks, which features lustrous natural agate to celebrate natural beauty and colour!

Store/position: Part time sales assistant Bath

I’m a fan of: Pandora and Nikki Lissoni

My trend is: Botanical world (take our quiz to find yours)

On my summer wish list: I would like to add to my very pink, sparkly, Pandora bracelet with some more charms to add some shimmer to my summer wardrobe. I’d love some sophisticated Nikki Lissoni Rose Gold coins to complement my skin tone and dark hair and eyes, and I always wear dark clothes so the Rose Gold will brighten up my outifts for Summer.

Hot tip: I love mixing metals, especially Silver and Rose Gold. So my top tip is don’t be afraid to pick and mix, the contrast in colours looks fab and is especially easy to do with Nikki Lissoni, or pick a contrasting metal to your watch for a great stack.

Dream destination: Maldives – a hot, quiet island. Soaking up the sun feasting on coconuts!

Bath in Fashion: Nurturing Up and Coming Designers

With one of our fabulous stores in Southgate Bath, Bath in Fashion is one of our favourite times of year, the City bustles with fashionistas and there’s an amazing line up of interesting exhibitions and talks hosted this year at the stunning Assembley Rooms.

Last night we headed to see Susie Bubble in discussion with Lulu Kennedy and Ed Marler of Fashion East, an infamous non profit organisation championing the work of up and coming fashion designers. Originally set up 15 years ago, Fashion East started by helping out young designers with event space to host their shows, final shows are notoriously expensive to run and so by finding free space to launch collections, designers were given a leg up into the fashion world. 15 years later and in collaberation with Topshop, Fashion East now funds carefully selected young designers, helping them with their final shows and providing advice to launch collection from concept through to commerce. Renowned worldwide for it’s avant garde fashion, London’s fashion scene and reputation has been heavily influenced by the designers coming out of Fashion East.

Last year fabulous launched ‘fabulous futures’ a similar initiative championing the work of up and coming jewellery designers. Fabulous worked closely with final year students on the ‘Jewellery and Silversmithing – Design for Industry’ degree course, giving students a retail perspective, before they go on to become designers or pursue careers in the industry.

Jo Stroud, together with Sinade Prosser, Retail & Buying Manager at Fabulous (a past graduate of the course) formed part of the end-of-year judging panel and met all the students. Fabulous owner, Jo says “Birmingham School of Jewellery has an excellent reputation for producing highly employable graduates with the skills needed within the jewellery industry today. We have chosen this particular course as it offers students a sound knowledge of the market, developing their technical skills within a commercial environment.”

The winners receive mentoring sessions designed to help them consider their target market, the pricing of their pieces, the way jewellery is presented in-store and packaged for the consumer, and the ways they can showcase themselves online. They get a week’s work experience at Fabulous, as well as winning the chance to appear at the Fabulous annual Garden Party, where they will meet top customers and other designers. A £200 bursary has also been given to each winner to cover any expenses incurred during placements.

Jo continues, “British designers are very important to us at Fabulous, with collections from Vivienne Westwood, Lulu Guinness, Chloe Moss and James Boyd all helping make us the go-to place for must-have brands. We’d love to see the next big thing in the industry come from home grown talent.”

fabulous at Bath in Fashion 2013

We showed fashionistas what we have to offer them during Bath in Fashion Week 2013. With events going on all around the City we love getting involved every year, and this year we went big!

Bath in Fashion Week got off to a great start for fabulous, we served Bubbly and canapé’s in store and watched the flash mob’s in Southgate Square, there was so much going on.

roland-mouretOn Monday Jo was honoured to be invited to hear visionary designer Roland Mouret being interviewed by Susannah Frankel of Grazia. From the front row Jo heard all about Roland’s inspiration and design process. Roland Mouret curated the Norman Parkinson exhibition which we went to see that night. Roland Mouret loved the moment of privacy captured between Parkinson and his models, and it is this intimacy Roland hopes to achieve with his designs. Jo loved the idea that his designs were created for real women, not just models and designed to give freedom of movement – which led perfectly to the ‘Exhibition of Mouvements De Femmes’ by Norman Parkinson, which we went to see that evening. Champagne flowed and the photographs were exquisite, a pretty fabulous Monday all round!

Thursday was a busy day for us at fabulous, with an event and catwalk to organise and party to attend (I know, poor us!).
elinor-jo-lynFrom 12.30pm, Jo Stroud of fabulous and Lyn Bromley of First Impressions hosted a Styling lunch at Hall & Woodhouse (the first of many – watch this space). We were delighted to welcome over 40 guests to the fabulous lunch and loved talking through this seasons jewellery trends. Lyn gave an insightful talk on styling, wardrobe personalities and how to pick colours, shapes and scales of jewellery to suit you. We also enjoyed a two course lunch with wine, which gave us plenty of time to chat to our fabulous clients and provide one on one advice.

model-catwalk

Cut to Thursday evening and we’re at the Assembly rooms getting ready for two catwalk shows featuring fabulous alongside other great brands such as French Connection, Reiss, Phase Eight and Lk Bennett. Once all the preparation was done, we settled down on the front row and joined 600 other guests to watch our Nikki Lissoni, Swarovski and Thomas Sabo jewellery sashes down the catwalk.

We had a great view of the catwalk and were sat just across from Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing! Jaime’s Famous Candy Kitten Store was also showcased on the catwalk with fabulous.jamie-mic

We just had time to pop along to the Ted Baker store for catwalks and cocktails from the amazing team at Circo (a fabulous favourite of ours in Bath) we loved the Summer range from Ted Baker and enjoyed more shopping at the beautiful store.

We ended the week with more bubbly and canapés in store. A huge thanks to everyone who helped out, modelled and came along to beautiful Bath to make it a truly fabulous week, we can’t wait to do it all again next Spring!

Lauren Pope visits Fabulous!

Owner, Jo Stroud, tells us about the recent Lauren Pope visit to Fabulous Bath.

Lauren Pope with Jo Stroud and Becky Johnson

Lauren Pope with Jo Stroud and Becky Johnson

We were delighted on Saturday to have Lauren Pope, one of the stars of reality tv show, ‘The Only Way is Essex’, come to do a personal appearance for us at Fabulous in Bath.

Lauren has recently become the face of new Dutch jewellery brand, Nikki Lissoni – an exciting new collection of composeable necklaces with interchangeable ‘coins’ which allow you to create numerous different looks in Silver, Yellow Gold and Rose Gold.

It was the first time most of us had met Lauren, and we were extremely impressed by her professionalism and hard work on the day, as well as her warm personality.

Long before she started appearing on TOWIE, Lauren was a highly successful businesswoman in her own right, having established a very successful hair extension business (Hair Rehab London – www.hairrehablondon.com ) backed by Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Peter Jones. She has now bought Peter out of the business, due to its success. Having started her career as a glamour model, loved by all the lads mags, Lauren is also a talented DJ, with bookings all over the world.

Far from being simply a tv personality, we all found Lauren to be warm and engaging, with plenty of time and friendly words for everyone who wanted to meet her, and her enthusiasm never flagging as over 250 people lined up to meet her over several hours.

She is a great ambassador for the Nikki Lissoni brand, as she loves the collection, and owns several pieces. With her gorgeous looks, Lauren would make any brand look glamorous, but the Nikki Lissoni collection looks great on everyone, the sheer choice in terms of necklace length, size, colour of metal, and designs of coin making it the perfect must-have fashion collection.

Come and see the new Nikki Lissoni collection in your local Fabulous store, or on-line. And look out for Lauren’s next appearance for us in our Solihull store – coming soon!

Jo xx
