Our favourite looks from last night’s Met Gala red carpet, and how to achieve them.
First up is Nicole Kidman’s star-spangled Alexander McQueen gown, complete with a sheer embellished cape. We love the attention to detail here, such as the symmetrical phases of the moon on the waistline. Daisy‘s Stages of the Moon choker is a beautiful interpretation of the same motif on a delicate sterling silver chain. The beaded sparkle of of the constellations in Nicole’s look inspire a kind of celestial wonder; we love the Star Maps necklaces by Mantra which similarly reflect the alignment of the stars with intricate detail and subtle sparkle.

FKA Twigs dressed up her peach-toned Versace gown with a delicate head-chain and a folk-art tattoo extending from her forearm to her fingers. Altogether, this striking look is evocative of both ancient mythology and modern spirituality. Achieve Twigs’s boho-chic by mixing, matching and stacking Daisy’s Chakra rings or Alex and Ani bangles.

Wow! The magnificent plumage of Zoe Saldana’s Dolce & Gabbana gown was a stand-out in a sea of metallic column dresses. We love the varying textures and the colourful accents in the trailing peacock tail. The Druzy collection by Mercy also uses a nature-inspired blend of lustrous textures and vivid colours to stunning effect.

Zendaya looked dazzling in a slinky studded Michael Kors gown. The shimmering golden tones of the dress bring to mind the dusty dunes of a Sahara sunset, and the model’s shiny black bowl-cut and bronzed cheeks are definitely evocative of the Queen of the Nile. The latest additions by Nikki Lissoni perfectly capture this outfit’s dusky desert vibes, and this Smoky Quartz Ring by Thomas Sabo is strikingly similar to the umber gems the model is rocking on her fingers.

It’s seconds away from May and the promise of a fabulous Summer is on the horizon (OK it snowed this week but we’re ignoring that) with payday around the corner I’ve been compiling a Summer wish list ready for holidays, a fun social calendar and well, just because! I’m known in fabulous for my colour aversion but something has happened this season and my eye is drawn to vibrant palettes and busy prints. I love the combination of bright flora and forna in watercolour strokes and neon shades, I’ve decided I’m a convert – and I’m calling it paradise prints, because I’m not a ‘floral’ person!
On my lust list…
It all started with this watch from Ice – I love it!
Paradise Ice Watch, £79.95 from fabulous
Then after wondering what the brands from my teen years were up to, I re-visited Warehouse, and boy am I glad I did. My wedding guest wardrobe will solely be from them this year as well as many a holiday outfit!
Silk Floral Print Dress, £95 from Warehouse
We’ve been working with our friends from Mercy this season, and we love their Druzy Rocks collection. I love the lustre of the crystals, they’re the perfect way to add a splash of colour to your look and the beautiful card they come on looks great in my jewellery box!
Druzy Rocks Necklace, £24 from fabulous
There’s no better way to brighten up your bedroom than a fabulous set of bedding (you know you’re getting older when a duvet cover is as exciting as a new pair of shoes!) I love this one from BHS, £65 for Superking
Happy Friday Tropical Bedding Set, £65 from BHS

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Cupid is gracing the covers of cards and romantic gifts, his bow and arrow synonymous with the romantic time of year. Alex and Ani have referenced the arrow in their ‘hooked on you’ collection for Valentine’s Day 2016, but the arrow has a rich history of symbolism, anchored in Native American Indians traditions…
- Two Arrows pointing away from each other depicts war
- Arrows crossed over shows friendship
- More than 3 arrows represents strength, it’s easy to snap one arrow where as a bunch of arrows is much harder to break, symbolising solidarity
- A broken arrow represents a feud coming to an end, the end of a disagreement or war
We love the arrow, for us at fabulous it symbolises overcoming difficult times, it represents the path of your life and reminds us that sometimes you have to be pulled backwards in order to be propelled forwards in a new exciting direction.
As January comes to an end, we want to continue to soar on the excitement of the New Year. The arrow reminds us that we still have a whole year of exciting adventures and that we are very much aiming forward. Here are the Arrow items we have our eyes on this payday…
Mantra Silver Arrow Necklace, £30
Cross Arrow Wall Sticker, Etsy £12.23
Alex and Ani Adjustable Rose Gold Arrow Ring, £24
Mint Green Arrow Note Cards, £15 from Notonthehighstreet

Here’s my pick of the fabulous sale…
Jennifer Zeuner is huge in America and favoured by all the A-list stars. The jewellery is classic with modern design twists featuring beautiful protection talismans. The perfect layering look (which becomes extremely affordable in the sale) made from Sterling Silver with precious stone elements. I can’t resist treating myself to one of these pieces, this Evil Eye necklace was £116 and is now £34.80, the classic Chelsea bar bracelet in Rose Gold (below) was £124 and is now £37.20!
This Chelsea Bar Bracelet is a great example of a piece of jewellery to buy and keep for a special present. You could have it engraved for a special Birthday or anniversary, or in my case, just keep it.
Seeing the line up for Coachella being announced has got me dreaming of Californian Summers and all the fabulous jewellery to go with it. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m already thinking about my next holiday and Hipanema is the perfect accessory, I love to pile my bracelets up, but if I’m on holiday or at a big event I love the ease of one big statement cuff with the appearance of lots of layers.
They’re now 70% off, so instead of £69, they’re now £20.70 – take a look at their instagram for some serious life envy and a dose of sunshine.
I love stacking rings; these Lauren G Adams rings come in a rainbow of colours but for Autumn/Winter I love them in glossy Black/White/Silver and Gold – they look great with the ChloBo Arrow midi ring too, plus, they’re all in the sale! Lauren G Adams rings are now only £8.40 and the ChloBo midi rings are 50% off, you can shop ChloBo rings here.

2016 is around the corner, with the New Year comes a clean slate, one that you can paint however you choose – how exciting is that?!
This year at fabulous we created our first own brand collection, Mantra, combining beautiful designs with thoughtful meanings. Inspired by the power of positive affirmations, we designed this range to be worn with joy! Let the powerful words and inspired mantras heighten your mood, focus your mind and go into 2016 with a purpose.
As we designed the Mantra range we all thought about the mantras, quotes or phrases we have which bring happiness to our lives. Whether they are advice from a loved one, a song lyric which makes us smile or a famous quote to empower us. myMantra was born, an engravable disc with a lotus on one side (representing growth through adversity) with space for your own personal mantra on the other. The perfect piece of jewellery to give you inspiration all year.
The Giving Keys launched at fabulous this year, an amazing LA brand who help homeless people transition through employment. Recycled keys are hand stamped with an inspiring word, wear your key to bring you strength, love, faith or belief, if you decide the key has done its job – pass it on to someone who needs the word more than you.
So rather than going into 2016 with a New Year’s resolution, a gym membership or fad diet, how about starting 2016 with a word or mantra to empower you, one which you can live by. We’d love to know what yours is…

With autumn firmly knocking on our door, we’re craving long walks in crisp woods with the sunlight dappling through falling leaves. The mythical and mindful forest is the inspiration behind many beautiful new jewellery lines for the fall, be inspired by the magic of the forest with a Rulers of the Woods bangle from Alex and Ani, or add the Tree of Life to your jewellery collection.
Ogham is an ancient Celtic alphabet that was used to describe plants, herbs and trees found in the forest and the inspiration for this seasons’ Alex and Ani Rulers of the Woods collection, inspired by the enchanting forgotten paths and untraveled trails of the forest.
Autumn is a time for reflection and renewal, as the old leaves fall from the trees we are given the opportunity to start afresh. Trees represent immense strength, stability and shelter, the elders of the forest, their antiquity is respected worldwide. A common symbol is the Tree of Life, its routes firmly in the ground and its branches dancing in the stars, be inspired by the strong and silent tree this season.
What are you looking forward to this Autumn?
