Our favourite looks from last night’s Met Gala red carpet, and how to achieve them.
First up is Nicole Kidman’s star-spangled Alexander McQueen gown, complete with a sheer embellished cape. We love the attention to detail here, such as the symmetrical phases of the moon on the waistline. Daisy‘s Stages of the Moon choker is a beautiful interpretation of the same motif on a delicate sterling silver chain. The beaded sparkle of of the constellations in Nicole’s look inspire a kind of celestial wonder; we love the Star Maps necklaces by Mantra which similarly reflect the alignment of the stars with intricate detail and subtle sparkle.
FKA Twigs dressed up her peach-toned Versace gown with a delicate head-chain and a folk-art tattoo extending from her forearm to her fingers. Altogether, this striking look is evocative of both ancient mythology and modern spirituality. Achieve Twigs’s boho-chic by mixing, matching and stacking Daisy’s Chakra rings or Alex and Ani bangles.
Wow! The magnificent plumage of Zoe Saldana’s Dolce & Gabbana gown was a stand-out in a sea of metallic column dresses. We love the varying textures and the colourful accents in the trailing peacock tail. The Druzy collection by Mercy also uses a nature-inspired blend of lustrous textures and vivid colours to stunning effect.
Zendaya looked dazzling in a slinky studded Michael Kors gown. The shimmering golden tones of the dress bring to mind the dusty dunes of a Sahara sunset, and the model’s shiny black bowl-cut and bronzed cheeks are definitely evocative of the Queen of the Nile. The latest additions by Nikki Lissoni perfectly capture this outfit’s dusky desert vibes, and this Smoky Quartz Ring by Thomas Sabo is strikingly similar to the umber gems the model is rocking on her fingers.
