Having a moment: Acorns

We’re loving the influence the seasons are having on jewellery this year, with Alex and Ani introducing a new core symbol to their collection, Unexpected Miracles, inspired by the beautiful Acorn. You’ll see lots of jewellery inspired by the Autumnal woods this season, from tree inspired symbols to wooden elements, and cute animals you’d find in the forest.

UNEXPECTED MIRACLES “The humble acorn holds the potential of the mighty oak. Sometimes, the biggest blessings come in the smallest packages. Recognize and receive the serendipitous gifts of the universe. Miracles come when you least expect them.”

Having a moment: Trees

With autumn firmly knocking on our door, we’re craving long walks in crisp woods with the sunlight dappling through falling leaves. The mythical and mindful forest is the inspiration behind many beautiful new jewellery lines for the fall, be inspired by the magic of the forest with a Rulers of the Woods bangle from Alex and Ani, or add the Tree of Life to your jewellery collection.

Ogham is an ancient Celtic alphabet that was used to describe plants, herbs and trees found in the forest and the inspiration for this seasons’ Alex and Ani Rulers of the Woods collection, inspired by the enchanting forgotten paths and untraveled trails of the forest.

Autumn is a time for reflection and renewal, as the old leaves fall from the trees we are given the opportunity to start afresh. Trees represent immense strength, stability and shelter, the elders of the forest, their antiquity is respected worldwide. A common symbol is the Tree of Life, its routes firmly in the ground and its branches dancing in the stars, be inspired by the strong and silent tree this season.

What are you looking forward to this Autumn?

ALEX AND ANI Rulers of the Woods

The brilliant autumn collections by ALEX AND ANI make it a whole lot easier to say goodbye to summer! Connect with the energy of nature and unearth the divine wisdom of Oghams with the fabulous Rulers of the Woods collection.

Each bangle in this new collection is inscribed with the ancient alphabet of Oghams that channel unique energies. Ancient and cryptic, the tree alphabet is thought to bestow powerful abilities to its wearer. The symbols are believed to contain the life force of trees, and are known as ‘oghams’ by the Druids, an old and wise spiritual order. Thirteen types of trees and plants align with specific times of the year, linking our birthdays to unique energies and properties. Find the ogham that speaks to you!

September inspiration: The Vine holds the energy of determination and is the ogham of growth. Vine reminds us of our innate potential to grow and to conquer any obstacles in our lives. With its triangular leaves, it blesses us three times: with creativity, delight, and the power to bloom. The Vine ruling is September 2 – September 29  perfect for a special gift this month.

Jo Stroud named in the Professional Jeweller Hot 100 2015!

The sixth Professional Jeweller Hot 100 was revealed at a spectacular jewellery industry party at Freemasons’ Hall, London, on September 7, with our very own Jo Stroud being celebrated as one of the 100 key movers and shakers from the UK jewellery industry.

The glittering event was held in association with Diamond Partner International Jewellery London, Technology Partner Bransom Retail Systems and Gold Partners Clogau, Curteis and FACETS PR.

The Professional Jeweller Hot 100 is an annual celebration of the 100 most impressive individuals from the UK jewellery industry that have showcased innovation, business development and design skills over the past 12 months. The 100 are listed under six categories – Trendsetters, Retail Stars, Business Big Shots, Brand Champions, Trailblazers and NexGems; with Jo featuring in the Retail Stars category.

Each year, the Hot 100 list is kept entirely secret until the reveal party; with each chosen person photographed and interviewed for a luxury commemorative book released on the night.

The Hot 100 2015 was hosted by Professional Jeweller editor Sarah Louise Jordan, assistant editor Stacey Hailes and event director Andrew Martyniuk, who congratulated this year’s Hot 100 within the illuminated Art Deco surrounds of the Freemasons’ Hall Grand Temple. The event saw guests cheer and applaud their peers, colleagues and industry friends, who were revealed one-by-one in a special video reel.

Professional Jeweller editor Sarah Louise Jordan said: “The Hot 100 has become the UK jewellery industry’s leading event – where the most hard-working, innovative and cutting-edge talents in our industry are recognised for their hard work.

“Those individuals that make the Hot 100 list each year should be extremely proud of their place within the Hot 100. We received hundreds of nominations this year but these are our finest examples of what it means to be a business leader, trendsetting designer and innovator in the UK jewellery industry today. Congratulations to all of those that have made the Hot 100 2015 so special.”

We’d like to say a huge congratulations from everyone at fabulous – well done Jo, what a great way to mark our tenth Birthday!
