‘I Do!’ Fabulous Wedding Jewellery

The fabulous team in Leamington have been attending a number of wedding shows over the last month and yesterday they helped to inspire brides- to- be at Mallory Court’s wedding show in Leamington Spa.

Whilst the most important piece of jewellery is of course the wedding ring, accessorising shouldn’t stop there! So here are some top tips from our Wedding Brand Manager and Leamington team to get you started!

  • Wedding jewellery is supposed to compliment your gorgeous dress not over power it. If your dress is very detailed and heavily embroidered, a more understated, lighter piece of jewellery would compliment the dress. For example, Swarovski’s Angelic Necklace (£61) and Earrings (£59.00) would be perfect. Whereas if you have chosen a simple design, a statement necklace or earrings would be fabulous – the more sparkle the better! Swarovski’s Heart studs (£56) are truly romantic!
  • Lots of brides like to match the theme or even a small aspect from the day to their jewellery. This can range from the colours chosen to the flowers and decorations! This is also great for bridesmaid’s presents as they are a beautiful reminder of the day and can be worn after the wedding as well! Thomas Sabo would be perfect for this as there are so many charms to choose from it can be individual to you and your wedding. The Pearl or Rose Quartz Bracelet along with a gorgeous charm would be a perfect reminder of the day. Our favourite charms are the Cubic Zirconia Butterfly charm (£34.95) and the Silver Bridal Shoe Charm (£29.95), which are extremely delicate and feminine.

Pandora’s Chalcedony Set is a very vintage inspired piece, which is great for those who have gone for a classic themed wedding. You can choose from the necklace (390321CA), the ring (190842CA), and earrings (19235118). The stone is an iridescent blue, and is believed to help harmonize your mind, body and soul, and is also great for your ‘something blue’ as the subtle shade isn’t too over powering!

To complete some Hollywood glamour, Thomas Sabo’s timeless Pearl Drop Necklace (£59) and Pearl Charm Bracelet (£29.95) will finish every classic look! The charm bracelet can hold up to three charms, so on your special day you can add something old, something borrowed, and something blue! Simple and affordable!!

  • Do consider whether or not you would wear the jewellery again after your wedding day! It would be a shame if it were never to come out of the box again! The Diamonds and Pearls collection by Hot Diamonds is beautifully elegant and feminine yet can be worn again on special occasions, plus it will always hold those special memories of your wedding day every time you wear it!
  • Take time to notice the neckline of your dress. For example, Diamonfire’s Droplet Necklace (£349) would be perfect with a strapless or off the shoulder dress. However, Swarovski’s Perpetual Necklace (£100) would compliment a V-Neckline more.

  • Don’t be afraid to change your jewellery throughout the day. Many brides consider a classic, traditional look when walking up the aisle but then change to a brighter, sparkly look for the evening. The time of day is important – many brides have preferred a more timeless, graceful style in the day and have then revamped in the evening with a majestic statement piece! For advice on engagement or wedding rings and other bridal jewellery, just pop in-store to have a chat with any of our team, or book an appointment with our ‘fabulous forever’ specialist, to look at rings in more detail.

fabulous Weddings!

Laura, our fabulous forever Brand Manager, gives us the low down on Wedding Fayres.

This time of year is proving to be all about romance from Valentine’s Day to Leap Day (men you can stop worrying now!!) It is also the main period in the year when engaged couples are out and about looking for wedding ideas – or even last minute planning!! Here at fabulous we have started to attend many of the local wedding fayres with our fabulous forever collection, and they are proving to be very popular indeed!

In the past week alone, we have attended fayres at Warwick Racecourse and the Ramada Hotel in Solihull. What’s great about these fayres is that you can find almost everything you need for your big day from your wedding rings to your invitations and flowers – and it’s all local to you! Warwick Racecourse had the most gorgeous dresses from Eternal Bride in Warwick. The Ramada fayre had fantastic designs from Wicked Weddingz invitations and table decorations to local magicians – so they can keep the children entertained during speeches!!

What surprised me when talking to many of the couples we met was how last minute they were in deciding upon their wedding rings. One couple were getting married in three weeks and had forgotten about them! I’m glad we were there to remind them!

It was really interesting to find out that many of the couples wanted something different to the traditional wedding ring. Our collection, ‘Love at First Sight’ proved popular. The wedding band, Spark, stood out because of how delicate it is with the endless flow of diamonds. Many brides wanted something to frame their engagement ring with a design that was subtle yet luxurious. Our ring Passionate Desire also had the same reaction as it really stands out and matches perfectly with princess cut engagement rings. The men’s rings also proved popular especially Hero from our ‘Tough Love’ collection. The two continuous lines engraved on the ring are sentimental yet understated.

Wedding jewellery was something else many brides were still looking for. At fabulous, we think Swarovski is perfect as it is elegant and subtle yet very glamorous! The Perpetual collection which is set with crystals and pearls is perfect yet timeless and the heart pendant and earrings are very delicate and understated. Other designers such as Thomas Sabo, Hot Diamonds and ChloBo are proving great for bridesmaid gifts as well as bridal jewellery. I love the Cute Mini bracelets from ChloBo with the heart, star or angel charms – perfect for someone to remember your big day!

We will be attending many other wedding fayres in the coming weeks and our next one is at the Mallory Court Hotel on 11th March. Come and see our great collection of wedding bands as well as jewellery we think is perfect for your special day!

fabulous Visit Brown & Newirth

The fabulous girls went behind the scenes to see how our fabulous forever range of wedding rings are made!

Last week some of us at fabulous were lucky enough to visit Brown and Newirth, the company who make our fabulous forever wedding and engagement rings.

We were invited to choose a ring design that we could follow through the entire manufacturing process and at the end of the day we were kindly allowed to keep them, which was a lovely surprise!

What we found most impressive was that every ring is hand made! And each person in their maze of a workshop (!) specialises in one particular part of the manufacturing process, many of whom travel over an hour to work every day because there are so few jobs requiring their unique skills in the country. Meeting all these very skilled people made us feel a bit useless! It was so interesting to see a company whose foundations are built on the history of British design and manufacture.

We learnt how every ring starts life as a “doughnut” of metal and then is subjected to high temperatures and pressure to size the ring as required. This means – as cheesy as it sounds – that the wedding rings they produce are an endless band of love! There are no seams to the bands and so they are also much more visually pleasing.

During the next stage we saw how the design of the ring was implemented – most of us chose a ring that had a diamond cut pattern on it, which created a super sparkly effect. One of the girls chose a design which had a heart pattern, so in order to see this take shape we visited the lasering room, which houses very expensive and rare equipment – it houses one of only two machines in the whole of the UK! It is so special because it can create very intricate designs, and the team will take on any pattern given to them by a customer. We admired some of their sample rings, and they were all very unusual!

After our rings had been made, the final process they went through was rhodium plating, to give them a shiny polished finish. Our rings were made in Sterling Silver and the rhodium will help to stop them tarnishing as quickly as non-plated Sterling Silver might do.

We really enjoyed our workshop tour and getting to meet the people who make our fabulous forever range – it’s always good to put some faces to names! Everyone there was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, from fetching us more biscuits to completing bespoke wedding and engagement rings! Brown and Newirth’s tagline is “A Dedication to Perfection”, and after our visit we totally understood why.
